Be Inspired Blog Hop – Creative Ways to Use Sentiments

Hello, my crafty friends! 👋

Welcome to the June Be Inspired Blog Hop! If you’re not starting the hop here, you’ve probably arrived from my wonderful and super talented Stampin’ Up! Team Leader, and friend Emma aka Coastal Crafter — and as always, I’m so grateful you’ve stopped by. This month’s theme is Creative Ways to Use Sentiments, and I couldn’t wait to share a couple of thank you cards that put sentiments centre stage.

Creative Ways to Use Sentiments

When creating cards, sentiments are often the finishing touch, but they can also become a key design element. There are so many creative ways to use them beyond simply stamping a greeting on the front of a card. I love heat embossing sentiments to make them pop, and I often use masking tape to cover parts of sentiment stamps so I can create completely custom greetings.

For today’s projects, I’ve used the Words & Wishes and Boutique Blossoms Bundles from Stampin’ Up! to create two thank you cards featuring a soft and elegant colour palette of Barely Blush, Basic White, Hydrangea Hue, and Peaceful Pine.

Card One – Die-Cut Sentiment Background

For my first card, I created a subtle but interesting background using die-cut words layered white-on-white. This technique adds beautiful texture and dimension while keeping the overall design clean and elegant. The repeated die-cut sentiments become part of the background, allowing the focal floral elements to shine while still reinforcing the message of thanks.

Card Two – Repeated Sentiment Strip

My second card uses a simple but effective technique: repeat stamping. I stamped the sentiment multiple times on a piece of cardstock to create a custom patterned element. Repeating sentiments is a fantastic way to add interest and emphasise your message while creating a unique design feature. The sentiment strip adds movement and draws the eye down the card, complementing the floral images beautifully.

These cards are a reminder that sentiments can be much more than a greeting—they can become backgrounds, patterns, focal points, and design elements in their own right. Thank you for stopping by today. I hope these projects inspire you to look at your sentiment stamps and dies in a new way and experiment with creative techniques on your next card-making project.

Be sure to continue around the hop for even more inspiration from the talented Be Inspired team!

Happy crafting 💜
