How to make cards with Simply Zinnia by Stampin’ Up!

Hello

Today, I want to show you how to make cards with the fabulous Simply Zinnia stamp set by Stampin’ Up! (163472), which is part of an online exclusive collection. That means you won’t find these products in any of the Stampin’ Up! catalogues. These cards are a good example of simple stamping. They show that you don’t need a lot of supplies to make really pretty cards.

This gorgeous stamp set is part of the Flowering Zinnias Suite Collection (163485). I was lucky to win most of the collection at a recent team meeting. This collection includes the stamp set, dies, 3D embossing folder, 12″ x 12″ designer series paper and adhesive-backed shiny sequins.

We used the Simply Zinnia bundle (163480) and Zinnia 3D Embossing Folder (163337) in my March card classes. Starting with a standard melon mambo card base, I stamping the flowers in Memento ink. Then used our watercolour pencils (161700) to add colour. Next, I die cut the image and adhered it on to a panel of embossed basic white. The sentiment was then heat embossing on a thin strip of melon mambo card. Finally, I added a few of the pink adhesive-backed sequins.

Simple stamping cards

Stampin’ Up! started a #simplestamping campaign a few years ago. We were encouraged to create and share easy-to-make projects, to show beginner crafters how fun paper crafting can be. Although I find simple stamping hard because I love layers, textures and fun stamping techniques.

But I hope you’ll agree these simple cards turned out really cute. I started with a thick basic white base (29.6 x 10.5cm). Then I stamped a tone on tone background on melon mambo card (14.5 x 10.2cm). This was inspired by one of the sheets in the 12″ x 12″ Flowering Zinnia dsp pack (163469). To keep things simple, I stamped the flowers and sentiment in black on basic white card (9.7 x 6.7cm). Adding a piece of basic black card (10 x 7cm) behind to make it pop. Offsetting it slightly as the sentiment was crooked! Next I added black and white gingham ribbon (156485) to the melon mambo card before gluing to the base. The black and white panels were added with dimensionals (I couldn’t help myself!). Finally, the adhesive-backed shiny sequins (163484) because we always need a bit of bling.

You can watch me make the card above on YouTube here. The only difference is an extra score line in the base to make it a simple z fold card. Like simple stamping, I find making multiples of a project hard, so like to switch it up a little!

Just one more (slightly less simple) version

For my final card, I created an easel card. Colouring the flowers with Stampin’ Blends and adding an embossed strip as a stopper.
