How to make a twisted easel card

Hello

Today, I will show you how to make a twisted easel card. This easy fun fold is actually really simple to make – it’s just an easel card with a twist! To create my cards I used For the Books and Beach Day stamp sets by Stampin’ Up!, plus sentiments pulled from a couple of retired stamp sets. To make the bookcase I chose the Country Woods 12″ x 12″ designer series paper with the Nested Essentials dies.

What is a twisted easel card?

Well, as I said earlier a twisted easel card is literally an easel card with a twist. If you’re a cardmaker you will probably know how to make an easel card, but you can click here and here to see examples of other easel cards that I’ve shared on my blog. Similar to normal easel cards, a twisted easel card folds flat to mail but the front twists for you to display, as you can see below.

These twisted easel cards were designed for my February card classes. The original has a very vanilla cardstock for the card base. After sharing on my socials, I was asked to do a tutorial so later in this post you can find a link to a YouTube video. Technical difficulties ….

I filmed a tutorial last weekend but had a technical issue when uploading it and the file got corrupted! I made the card above in that video, using basic beige for the card base instead of very vanilla.

Take Two ….

So, in the YouTube video below, you can watch me make my third version using smoky slate cardstock measuring 5″ x 10″. First score at 5″ and then the cardfront scored diagonally from the top right to bottom left. Emboss a piece of smoky slate with Forever Plaid 3D embossing folder for added texture. To make the bookcase and inside anchor with a 3½” x 4″ piece of Country Woods 12″ x 12″ designer series paper, which is staying in the annual catalogue for another year, using the Nested Essential dies.

Next, I stamped the books and sentiments on a ¼ sheet of basic white A4 card. Then I coloured the books with Stampin’ Blends before fussy cutting. I hope you enjoy watching the tutorial below.
