Hello
Today I want to show you how to use the Deckled Circles dies Stampin’ Up! to make a card. In fact I think it’s a great way to stretch our dies. I thought the card below was perfect for Global Design Project theme challenge (#GDP419) Tis the Season.
This theme challenge was the perfect chance for me to use the Joy of Noel bundle (161967) and Christmas Classics photopolymer stamp set (161970) from the Stampin’ Up! mini catalogue. To make a card base I reached for the Deckled Circles dies (162286).
The deckled edges actually help stop the circlular card from rolling away – ha ha! To make the berries 3D I added Pearlized Enamels Effects Basics (156310) and the ribbon is from a combo pack (160386). My first attempt had a slightly darker green base and the bow was made with retired ribbon from my stash.
After I finished filming the YouTube tutorial video, which you can watch later or by clicking the photo below, I did make a couple of small changes. First, I heat embossed another banner using Real Red card. Next, I swapped the bow for a Real Red one. Finally, I added dimension and shimmer to the berries by applying Pearlized Enamel Effects Basic.
Using Deckled Circles Dies
To make the base, I started by trimming a piece of A4 to 15.5 x 29.6cm, then scored it at 14.8cm. Then using the largest of the Deckled Circles dies, with it hanging over the folded edge slightly, and ran it through the Cut & Emboss machine. I cut an extra to glue over the top, which hides the hinge. Next using the 2nd largest die I cut two circles in Basic White for the front and inside of the card. Finally, stamp the boughs four times and colour with Stampin’ Blends before die cutting and arranging into a wreath on the front of the card.
