Learn how to stamp the perfect mirror image

Happy Sunday!

Today I want to show you an easy way to stamp the perfect mirror image using the Stamparatus by Stampin’ Up! Using this amazing tool with a silicone mat (or piece of acetate) is the easiest way I’ve found of This was one of the cards we made in my card classes this week and I used the Adorable Owls stamp set. It is just one of the items you can get FREE with a qualifying £45 order during Sale-a-bration, which runs until the end of February.

For this card, I simply stamped the owl in Memento ink (isn’t he cute!) and coloured him with Stampin’ Blends before using the Decorative Circle punch to punch out the label. I decided not to add a sentiment so I can use the card for any occasion. The background is embossed with the Fern 3D embossing folder and the banner made from a piece of Hues of Happiness 12″ x 12″ designer series paper. The ribbon is retired but goes really with the Gorgeous Grape Glossy Dots.

For the next card, I wanted the owl facing the other direction, so it was the perfect opportunity to show you how easy it is to stamp the perfect mirror image. This is called the mirror stamping technique. It meant the owl had to be fussy cut so I added a touch of blue to the punched label with a blending brush to help the little fella stand out! And even though I used a piece of the same sheet of designer series paper, this section is mostly pinks and yellows so I added Polished Pink Open Weave ribbon and the pink (Melon Mambo) Glossy Dots. As I was fussy cutting, I also trimmed the sentiment from Happiness Abounds as well.

How do you stamp the perfect mirror image?

The mirror stamping technique is simple and as I’ve said above the best tool I’ve found to do this job is the Stamparatus by Stampin’ Up! Below you can see I first stamped the owl on a piece of basic white. Next I replaced the card with a silicone mat and stamped the owl twice to make sure the image had plenty of ink.

Finally, I placed the basic white face down and applied pressure to transfer the ink from the silicone mat to the card. As you can see below you get the perfect mirror image. How cool is that?

The other thing I did for the second card is to add the same designer series paper to the envelope flap. This is such a quick way to make the envelope match the card. If you would like to see some other cards that I’ve shared on my blog using the Hues of Happiness designer series paper click here, here and here!
