How to make a Pop Up Vase birthday card

Happy Monday!

Today I want to show you how to make a Pop Up Vase birthday card. These fun fold cards are easier to make than you think. The first example is an A6 size birthday card and the second a larger version. For both I used Stampin’ Up! products that will be available for you to purchase from 1 November 2022 until 4 January 2023 called the Fitting Florets Collection.

I first came across this style of card earlier in the year when I saw a fabulous card on Splitcoaststampers created by Gloria Plunkett, a talented Stampin’ Up! demonstrator in America.

The Fitting Florets Collection includes:-

  • Framed Florets Bundle
  • Framed & Festive Stamp Set
  • Fitting Florets 12″ x 12″ designer series paper
  • Gold Adhesive Backed Swirls.

The papers are so pretty so I used the same design on both of these fun fold cards. On the smaller pop up vase birthday card I stamped images from the Framed Florets stamp set in Black Memento before colouring them with Polished Pink, Bamy Blue, Soft Succulent, Evening Evergreen and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends. As I often do when first playing with new products I take colour inspiration from the designer series paper. Once the stamped and coloured images were die cut, I used them on the front and inside of the card. When this type of card is opened the vase of flowers pops up – how cool is that?

Making a larger Pop Up Vase Birthday card

If it’s a special birthday or occasion I like to make a bigger card and the first time I made this type of pop up vase birthday card I made an A5 card. I’ve not written a blog post about it but I did share photo’s of it on my Instagram account – click here if you’d like to see it – and was asked if I would do a tutorial.

You can see the size difference above. If you would like to see how I made the larger Pop Up Vase birthday card you can find a video tutorial later in this post or you can click the photo below.

While I used the Framed Florets dies for the front of the smaller pop up vase birthday card, I chose the Scalloped Contour dies to make the label on larger card. Also instead of stamping the flowers from the Framed Florets stamp set I fussy cut flowers from a piece of the designer series paper to use on the front and inside of the card.
