Close up of two christmas cards

Christmas in July Theme Challenge

Happy Sunday!

This week we have had a scorcher in the UK with record temperatures so it seems a bit weird to be writing about Christmas cards. But today I’m sharing a Christmas card that I made for a Christmas in July theme challenge at The Stamping Cove Facebook Group last month! The Christmas card ideas that the other members of The Stamping Cove Design Team are all lovely, so if you’re looking for inspiration why not ask to join the group which was set up by my lovely upline Emma Goddard, Coastal Crafter.

It was a bit early for me to start thinking about Christmas card ideas last month but I do enjoy a theme challenge. I decided to keep my card simple using floral images trimmed from around the edge of a piece of the beautiful Perfectly Penciled designer series paper, also known as dsp. So you can find this paper in the Stampin’ Up! annual catalogue. And I coloured the flowers with a variety of Stampin’ Blends. I think it’s always fun to use a non Christmas product for a festive card or project.

Simple and elegant Christmas card with floral image cut from patterned paper and gold heat embossed sentiment

The card base for the first version is Real Red and looking at the photo’s the white layers are cut at 10cm x 14.3cm giving a slightly larger border. Adding a bit of Pool Party ink with a blending brush to the white layer before adding the flowers helps them pop and by not glueing the whole image there’s a bit of movement in it, if that makes sense? In my humble opinion, all Christmas cards need a bit of gold or silver so I added a strip of gold foil and heat embossed the sentiment from the Christmas to Remember stamp set in gold. To finish off I added some white Classic Matte dots.

I made another version, this time with an Evening Evergreen base with darker reds and greens. If you click on the photo below you will see how quick and easy it was to make. Or you can click on the video later in this post.

Although I’ve only shown the inside of my second version here, both cards just have another sentiment from the Christmas to Remember stamp set in Memento Black.
