Hello my friends
Crafting is usually my therapy and my craft room my happy place but I’ve not spent a lot of time in there recently. I was a bit blasé about coronavirus up until a few weeks ago and have watched, in disbelief, the impact COVID 19 is having around the world. Since last Tuesday, here in the UK we’ve been staying home to help save lives! My heart goes out to all the families who have lost someone to this virus.
I’ve had a few wobbles and more than a little anxiety so to help me cope am restricting the amount of news I watch and focus on being positive. I’m staying in touch with family and friends, making a lot of video calls – isn’t technology wonderful – it’s comforting being able to see people and can’t wait to give everyone a great big hug.
My March card classes were only a few weeks ago (before the chaos) but it feels like longer and today I’m sharing one of the cards we made – an easy impossible card that fits into a 5″ x 7″ envelope.
We used some designer series paper from my stash for class – this is my sample. The base is Flirty Flamingo. The embellishments are made with the Medium Daisy punch (two punched flowers layered), sponged with Lovely Lipstick and I stamped the leaves in Soft Seafoam ink with a stamp from Painted Harvest before using the Leaf punch with Clear Faceted Gems for the centre of the flowers. The sentiment from Piece of Cake and is stamped in Crumb cake.
I gave my ladies two options as there wasn’t enough paper for everyone to do the same. I’m not sure which is my favourite! The second base is Soft Sea Foam and sentiment from Label Me Bold stamped in Lovely Lipstick. This time the edges of the daisy are sponged and the centre of the flower is a gold faceted gem.
Below is the card I gave my Mum for Mother’s Day and when I shared a photo on my Instagram my sister-in-law, Tina, asked me to do a tutorial.
These are the templates I made to show my class how to cut and score the card base and pretty designer series paper. I made another base template from acetate to make cutting the card easier. Just hold in place with some washi tape and cut where the lines are – easy peasy! You can watch a video below to see what I mean.
So for the tutorial, I used Old Olive and Whisper White card with Bird Ballad designer series paper and Perennial Essence Velum
To make the card I used:-
Old Olive card cut @ 4 ½” x 6 ½” and 1″ x 4 ½”
Designer Series Paper cut @ 3 1⁄8″ x 4 3⁄8″ (2 pieces) and 7⁄8″ x 4 3⁄8″
Whisper White card cut @ 2 1⁄⁄8″ x 2 3⁄8″ (2 pieces) and some spare for the flowers

Clear Faceted Gems
Paper Snips, glue dots and multipurpose glue
On the short side draw a pencil line across the card @ 2 ¼”.
On one long side cut just to the line @ 3 ¼
On the other long side cut @ 2″ and 4 ½”
Score the centre line between the cuts.
Once you have made all the cuts and scored, just “flip” one side to create the impossible! It’s that easy. Now layer with the paper and add embellishments.
I punched and layered two flower punched pieces to make each daisy and added Pool Party around the edges with a sponge dauber. The centre of the flowers is a clear faceted gem coloured with a black sharpie.
