Hello and welcome to my blog,
Today I’m back to share another fancy fold. I introduced my friend Sarah to Pinterest a few years ago and every now and then she sends me a link to a fancy fold card design. She sent me a link to a theatre fold card a few months ago and as it was her birthday last weekend I knew I had to make her one of these cards using some of the Playful Pets designer series paper. I swear her cat was used as a model for the grumpy cat in this DSP!
After a bit of research on Pinterest and YouTube, I made this card and I absolutely love it – luckily so did Sarah.
Below the card is folded flat so it fits in a standard C6 envelope. To open the card you pull the sides outwards and voila the inside is revealed – the cats expression makes me giggle every time.
The back of the card has a panel for messages and is the only place I stamped anything on this card! All the cats images are fussy cut from the designer series paper – I love them. The rectangle on the front panel was cut using one of the Stitched Rectangle dies and is perfect to make a matching gift tag. The bunting across the top was made with some retired dies.
For the tag, I fussy cut another cat and made a bed for it with one of the layering oval dies and a piece of early espresso card – the sentiment is white heat embossed on one of the smaller stitched rectangles – cute eh! I used some of the ribbon, twine and trickets from the Playful Pets Suite on the tag. I also added one of the Tasteful Labels dies to the back of the tag as the gray is a little dark to write a message on.
You’ll find a link to my YouTube tutorial for the dog version below at the end of this post. I realised when I watched the video that you can hear my puppy dropping his ball on the floor and whining as he wanted me to play with him! Then the cats came in and started fighting. What do they say about working with animals!! Oh and I discovered this week that I have 700 subscribers, which is amazing. My next goal is to get to 1,000 so I’ve got a way to go yet! There’s a bonus card at the end of the video featuring the Dressed to Impress stamp set which is in the 24 hour sale today. This type of card is perfect for using up some of that precious dsp we have in our “collection”.
The dogs for this card were also fussy cut from another piece of the dsp – they’re just as cute as the cats imho! There’s a co-ordinating die set for the stamp set but I didn’t use them for these cards.
I haven’t finished the tag yet as my craft space is still in disarray after a renovation.
To make these cards you will need:-
