Happy Sunday! Today, I’m sharing a new (to me) fun fold card. If you know me, I will have already told you how much I enjoy learning how to make different types of card and this looked like a fairly easy one that I have been meaning to try for a while. The first time I looked through the January to June 2022 mini catalogue and saw the Seas the Day Bundle, I knew I had to have it in my collection and I’ve had a lot of fun the past few weeks making cards with it.
Later in this post you will find a link to a video on my YouTube channel where you can watch me make this card. I normally limit the number of colours I use on a project but for this one I went to town using lots of different blues tones to build my underwater scene with all the sea creatures
These 5½” x 5½” cards fold flat for posting and I created a little bit of dimension in my underwater scene by using foam pads. I used an A4 piece of Thick Basic White, cutting two 5½” x 5½” pieces and scoring one at ½”, 2″, 3½” and 5″ before diecutting the panel from the centre. I used another strip of Thick Basic White measuring 1″ x 5½” and adhered it to the right hand side of the bottom panel with a long strip of Foam Adhesive Sheets, which acts in a similar what to an easel card to hold the bay window open (does that make sense?).
I glued a 5½” x 5½” piece of the Simply Marbelous 6″ x 6″ designer series paper as the background on the back piece. This paper is one of the items you can get for FREE with an order of £45 during Sale-a-bration. It’s easy to see from the side and top view how this type of card got its name.
For the prototype I made earlier in the week, I used coloured cardstock and some retired dsp and stamped and fussycut the seaweed rather than using the die cuts. If I’m honest I forgot there wasn’t a die for the seaweed! I think it was worth it though – you can see more photo’s over on my LynnieCDesigns Facebook page. I love them both – do you have a favourite?
