Hello,
Today, I want to show you how easy it is to take a simple card up a notch and then go all out by adding a few extra elements to make a really special card. To create these cards I chose the Cake Celebrations bundle by Stampin’ Up!, which is an online exclusive.
Keeping it simple
For the first card, I kept it simple by stamping the cake stand and sentiment in crumb cake ink on a basic white panel. Then I stamped the two tiered cake in bubble bath ink, with more icing detail stamped over the top in the same colour. Next the flowers were stamped in berry burst ink and leaves in old olive. Finally, to finish off the card, I added adhesive-backed metallic gems to the centre of the flowers. The inside is simply stamped with bubble bath and crumb cake inks.
Using retired products
In 2025 I’m on a mission to use retired products that I have in my collection, because let’s face it we bought them because we fell in love with them! So for these cards I used two of the dies from Radiating Stitches dies set to make the panels. I also added some berry burst ribbon across a strip of distressed gold paper between the die cut panels to add a touch of glamour.
Taking it up a notch
The next card, which was one of the projects from my January 2025 card classes, is stepped up a notch by first drawing some wiggly lines with a Bubble Bath Stampin’ Write Marker to create the icing details. (Markers are a useful tool that I often forget about as I lean towards my favourite Stampin’ Blends when adding colour to projects.) Then I simply added a gold heat embossed sentiment that I fussy cut with dimensionals, together with a gold twisted thread bow, which adds an extra touch of glamour. The radiating stitches dies add lots of lovely interest and detail to these simple cards don’t they?
Going all out
For the last card, I opted to use the Cake Celebration dies in the bundle to create a beautiful cake. The die cut elements for the icing were cut from bubble bath card and coloured with the marker and it adds a lovely two tone effect. Wink of Stella pen adds lots of lovely shine to those pieces, although it’s hard to see from my photos. Using dimensionals under some of the elements adds extra depth and shadows. Finally, I tied a double bow to finish off the card.
Above you can see all three together and I hope it shows how by adding a few extra elements you can take a simple card and notch it up to get a show stopper! If you would like to watch me make the All Out version you can click the video below. It’s a little longer than usual, so I hope you enjoy watching it.
