How to create an elegant Christmas Card with Shimmer Paint and Lovely as a Tree

Happy Sunday my friends – here we are again.

I’ve been pro-craft-inating (haha) about what swaps to make for the Stampin’ Up! #OnStage2018 in Birmingham, which is in a few weeks …… eek! It will be my third OnStage event so I know what to expect but I’m sad as my lovely upline Victoria isn’t going.  I decided to be brave and go on my own because it’s a special year (#StampinUp30) and I know I’ll have an amazing time. I’ve finally decided what to do so made a start on those this week. I will share them with you after I’ve been to #OnStage2018.

Today I’m sharing another card from my monthly card class. I think it’s simple but elegant and uses a favourite image from the Lovely as a Tree stamp set (available in wood and clear mount), the Swirls & Curls embossing folder and some gorgeous Bright Copper Shimmer Paint.

At class, we made a Shaded Spruce A6 top folding card base with two pieces of Soft Sea Foam cardstock cut @ 10cm x 14.4cm and another piece cut @ 7.5cm x 11.9cm. One of the larger pieces of Soft Sea Foam was lightly sprayed with water using a Stampin’ Spritzer before being put through Big Shot in the Swirls & Curls embossing folder. I find spraying it helps soften the cardstock and stops any cracking. Using a sponge dauber, shimmer paint is added to the embossed piece using a circular motion. It doesn’t show very well in photo’s but the paint is gorgeous! Still using the dauber, shimmer paint was added directly onto the Lovely as a Tree stamp. Shaded Spruce was added round the edge with a piece of stamping sponge.

The card in my video is a little different – the card base is Early Espresso cardstock with two pieces of Very Vanilla cut as before but the smaller piece is cut @ 7.2cm x 10cm and I’ve used a scrap for the sentiment, which is from the Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set.

Here are both versions together. They are quick and easy to make and I can’t wait to make more.

Here’s another version with some metallic sequins added to the tree and Early Espresso ink added to the edge of that panel, which I think I prefer – I do love a bit of bling.

Here’s the video – let me know what you think.
