Global Design Project – Greenery Lane Floral Card

Hello, my crafty friends! 👋

This week’s Global Design Project challenge #GDP536 is a special one, because it’s a CASE the Designer challenge — and we are CASEing a thoroughly adorable card by the very talented Leah Dixon. I absolutely loved Leah’s layout; therefore, I chose to use her beautiful design as inspiration while adding my own colour palette with some floral touches.

My card

To begin with, I created my card base using Peach Pie cardstock, which instantly set the tone with its warm, cheerful glow. Next, I embossed a piece of Basic White cardstock using the Beautiful Pattern 3D embossing folder. However, rather than leaving the edges crisp and clean, I decided to rough them up slightly using one of the Take Your Pick Tool craft blades. As a result, the panel has a softer, slightly distressed finish that contrasts beautifully with the structured embossing.

Adding floral touches

After that, I layered three strips of the Lovely & Beautiful 12″ x 12″ Specialty Designer Series Paper across the embossed panel. Although this paper includes stunning gold foil detailing, I intentionally chose to showcase the soft pastel reverse sides instead. Consequently, the overall look feels delicate and cohesive, while still allowing other gold accents to shine later on.

Once the patterned strips were adhered, I wrapped a length of Gold Striped Ribbon around the panel and tied it into a sweet little bow. Not only does this add texture, but it also subtly draws the eye toward the centre of the design.

Creating a focal point

For the focal point, I die cut a circle using one of the Spotlight on Nature dies. Then, using the Greenery Lane bundle, I stamped several leafy sprigs in Old Olive along with clusters of tiny flowers in Peach Pie and Fresh Freesia. After stamping, I carefully die cut the images and arranged them onto the circle using liquid glue.

In addition, I added a delicate touch of gold to the centres of the tiny flowers using Gilded Flakes from my stash. This small detail, although subtle, ties in beautifully with the ribbon and creates a cohesive finish.

The focal circle itself was mounted using dimensionals. Therefore, this is definitely one of those delightfully dimensional cards that I’ll most likely hand-deliver rather than post!

Finishing touches

Finally, I added a few Pearls of Beauty to complete the design. As a finishing touch, they provide just enough softness and elegance without overwhelming the layout. A strip of card was added to the inside to tie everything together.

All in all, this card was such a joy to create. While I stayed true to Leah’s original layout, I truly enjoyed incorporating my own colour choices, textures, and embellishments. CASE challenges are always a wonderful reminder that inspiration can spark creativity in the most beautiful ways.

Thank you so much for stopping by today — and if you’re playing along with this week’s challenge, I can’t wait to see what you create!

Happy crafting 💜
