January Card Class Projects – Extraordinary Flora

Hello, my crafty friends! 👋

For my January card classes, I made cards featuring the Extraordinary Flora Washi Tape and Extraordinary Flora Bundle from Stampin’ Up! I made two versions and these projects were designed to be quick, effective, and perfect for letting the gorgeous washi tape shine.

My colour inspiration came directly from the washi tape itself—those rich florals make choosing coordinating colours so easy. Both cards have a Thick Basic White card base, with a layer of Petunia Pop on card one and Strawberry Slush on card two. The coloured layers were embossed using the Beautiful Patterns Embossing Folder to add subtle texture without overpowering the design.

Card One – Floral Washi Wreath

This card is a great example of how fast these projects come together thanks to the coordinating dies.

Measurements

  • Thick Basic White card base: 14.8 cm x 21 cm, scored at 10.5 cm
  • Petunia Pop mat layer: 10 cm x 14.3 cm
  • Basic White for washi: Approx. 9 cm x 13 cm
  • Basic White circle (Stylish Shapes Dies): 3” (7.6 cm) circle

Instructions

  1. Cut and score card base.
  2. Emboss the Petunia Pop layer with the Beautiful Patterns Embossing Folder.
  3. Apply Extraordinary Flora Washi Tape to Basic White cardstock.
  4. Die cut the floral images using the Extraordinary Flora Dies.
  5. Die cut a circle from Basic White using the Stylish Shapes Dies.
  6. Stamp a sentiment from the retired Heart Shaped stamp set in VersaMark, then heat emboss with Gold Embossing Powder.
  7. Arrange and glue the die-cut florals around the edge of the circle.
  8. Wrap Petunia Pop Iridescent Ribbon around the Petunia Pop layer and tie a small bow before attaching the circle to the card front with Dimensionals.
  9. Add to card front.
  10. Finish the card with retired Purple Adhesive-Backed Sequins.

Card Two – Stepped-Up Gold Embossed Florals

For the second card, I wanted to step things up just a little by adding gold heat embossing over the washi tape for extra texture and shine.

Measurements

  • Thick Basic White card base: 14.8 cm x 21 cm, scored at 10.5 cm
  • Strawberry Slush mat layer: 10 cm x 14.3 cm
  • Basic White for washi: Approx. 9 cm x 13 cm

Instructions

  1. Cut and score card base.
  2. Emboss the Strawberry Slush layer with the Beautiful Patterns Embossing Folder and glue to card front.
  3. Apply the Extraordinary Flora Washi Tape to a piece of Basic White cardstock.
  4. Stamp the large Extraordinary Flora image over the washi tape using VersaMark ink.
  5. Heat emboss with Gold WOW Embossing Powder.
  6. Also gold heat emboss a sentiment from Delightful Wishes stamp set and trim.
  7. Die cut the floral images using the coordinating Extraordinary Flora Dies.
  8. Arrange and glue the die-cut florals around the edge of the circle.
  9. Add the sentiment with Dimensionals.
  10. Add Gold Striped Mesh Ribbon to the Strawberry Slush layer and add to card front.
  11. Finish with Strawberry Slush Gems for a touch of sparkle.

Final Thoughts

These cards are perfect for classes because they showcase how versatile this washi tape can be – especially when paired with the coordinating die. Whether you keep it simple with die-cut florals or step it up with heat embossing, the Extraordinary Flora products make it easy to create beautiful cards quickly.

Happy crafting 💜
