Hello crafty friends!
Welcome to this month’s Be Inspired Blog Hop! I’m so glad you’re here. Our theme is Masculine Makes. Masculine cards can sometimes be tricky, but I decided to focus on something we can all relate to: creating cards for the men in our lives using what we already have on hand.

For my designs, I pulled out some scraps of Designer Series Paper (yes, those bits we all hang on to!) and paired them with letter and number dies to create two fun birthday cards. I love that these came together quickly, but still look personal and striking.

How I made my masculine makes
The products I have used:
- Alphabet A La Mode dies – with this slimline alphabet and number die set you can say what you want—anything you want!
- Country Woods 12″ x 12″ designer series paper – the wood designs on this dsp pack help you create rustic yet sophisticated paper crafts!
- Not 29 Anymore – The witty and heartfelt sentiments for anyone over 30 add a fun twist to birthday cards, and remind family and friends that age is just a number.
- Basics WOW Embossing Powder – This 3-pack of Basic Embossing Powder helps you transform your stamps with texture and gloss.
Want a closer look at these Masculine Makes?

The first card has strips of DSP layered across the background, in different directions to give the card a clean but graphic look. A bit of early espresso ink added to the edge of this panel with a blending brush gives a vintage look. Next die-cut letters and numbers are added to a panel of co-ordinating cardstock – simple, bold, and just right for a masculine feel. Dimensionals and adhesive foam sheets elevate each layer for added depth and interest. Neutral adhesive-backed sequins adds just the right amount of bling!

Now for the inside, I wanted to create a fun sentiment so reached for the Not 29 Anymore photopolymer stamp set and clear heat embossed using one of the 3-pack of Basics WOW Embossing Powder to add a touch of elegance. Although the heat embossing is not easy to see in my photograph! To carry through the vintage look ink was blended around the edge of the inside as well.

The second card is a little plainer but also features die-cut letters and numbers as the focal point, perfect for celebrating a birthday. Again, the DSP scraps added pops of pattern without feeling too busy, and the big letters and numbers make a strong statement.

What I love about these designs is that they’re not only guy-friendly but also great stash-busters. It’s such a satisfying feeling to turn leftover pieces into cards that are fresh, modern, and completely usable.
