Hello
Today I want to show you how to make a winged Christmas card, or at least that’s what I call this card fold. I first came across this style of card on Instagram. It was created by Susan Campfield, a very talented American Stampin’ Up! demonstrator. Susan called it the Flying Seagull fold and although her card was a little larger with a square panel at the front it was one that I wanted to try.
My card was inspired by another talented Stampin’ Up! demonstrator called Lorna Carter, who is also a Brit. I CASED (copy and share everything) the size of Lorna’s card as I wanted to make a card that fits into a standard C5 envelope. Celebrate with Tags from the Stampin’ Up! annual catalogue, were used to make Lorna’s gorgeous card (which you can see later in this post). For my christmas card, I used the Snow Crystal stamp and a sentiment from Brightest Glow. In order to make the panels for the wings I used one of the new decorative masks from the mini catalogue. To make my Christmas card, I used Balmy Blue and Basic White card, while Lorna’s card is made with Crumb Cake, Real Red and Basic White card.
Do you recognise the tecnique I used in my Christmas card?
I love teaching techniques in my classes because my ladies enjoy learning something new or being reminded of a technique. This was, in fact, one of the christmas cards in my September classes and features the emboss resist technique. The first step was to stamp the Snow Crystal twice in Versamark ink onto a panel of Basic White card. Then I heat embossed with white emboss powder. Finally, I added Misty Moonlight ink with a blending brush over the whole panel, wiping over the stamped image with a dry cloth and the embossed images resists the ink.
Do you make your Christmas cards or buy them?
As I make cards, I find it difficult to buy christmas cards, so I usually start making them early. Therefore, all the cards we made in my September classes were christmas cards. If you would like to watch me make this chrismas card you can click on the photo below or the YouTube box later in this post. In the video I show you how to easy it is to make a winged card as well as demonstrate the embossed resist technique.
The base for the card in the video is Misty Moonlight and I think I prefer the monochromatic version of this christmas card.
Here’s the video.
If you would like to buy any of the products I’ve talked about you can click on the photo’s below to go to that item in my Stampin’ Up! online shop. If you would like more information about shopping with me click this link.
That’s all from me today, as always thanks for stopping by and remember to keep it crafty.
