Hello
Today I wanted to teach you how to CASE (Copy & Selectively Edit) a card by sharing my entry to Global Design Project #GDP416 – CASE the Designer entry. I was totally inspired by the gorgeous card we’re CASEing from the lovely Kayla Renee, a GDP team member from Australia.
CASE means Copy and Selectively Edit and I loved the colours and layout of Kayla’s card so kept a similar colour pallette and layout for my card. So for me one of the cool things about CASEing is the way you take the elements you like or inspire you from a project and use them as a starting point to make a project of your own.
Do you ever CASE other people’s or your own cards?
Well, if I’m stuck for crafting inspiration CASEing is a really handy tool. As it’s October, with Christmas just around the corner, I wanted to make a Christmas card so I heat embossed the sentiment (from Christmas Classics Photopolymer Stamp set) with white emboss powder on darker card too. To make sure there was lots of bling I die cut the largest floral die from the Artistic dies in gold foil and added some gold Elegant Trim.
Another element to CASE
One of the other elements that I wanted to CASE from Kayla’s card was the pretty background that looked as if it had some ink blending. But instead of a plaid background, I made my own by applying in with a small blending brush over two of the layering masks from the Artistic Mix Decorative Masks set from the Stampin’ Up! Annual catalogue. You can find other cards that I made with this decorative masks set here.
Each Monday the Global Design Project set a challenge and I’m so grateful that my entries for the last two weekly challenges have received a special mention. If you would like to see the card I made for last weeks theme challenge you’ll need to watch the video below.
This is the card you can watch me make in the video. I’m not sure if the colour pallette is more traditional. I’m not sure which one I like more. Do you have a favourite?
In any event, I think Berry Burst, Lost Lagoon and Pretty Peacock with lots of silver elements make this card really pretty.
Here’s the video.
