Happy Sunday!
Today I want to show you a how to make a couple simple cards with patterned paper that I made for this weeks Global Design Project Rain or Shine Theme Challenge #GDP391. This patterned paper is sadly retiring in the next day or so but it was perfect for this challenge as it’s called Rain or Shine Specialty 12″ x 12″ designer series paper.
The options with a theme challenge are endless and this Rain or Shine theme had me reaching for the Playing in the Rain bundle by Stampin’ Up! and the gorgeous specialty designer series paper that came with this suite. If you would like to see what the Design Team made and the other cards submitted you should head over to their website by clicking the photo below.
Steps to make these simple cards
I started by trimming the Rain or Shine dsp to create two panels for the front of the card and layered them, so you can see both sides of the paper. Next I tore a strip off a piece of basic white, stamped the sentiment (from a retired stamp set called Under My Umbrella – click here to see another simple card that I made with this stamp set) and glued that on top of the dsp. I fussy cut the cute critters and stamped the clouds with versamark on vellum and heat embossed in white. The co-ordinating die cut the three clouds out in one go which saves a lot of time.
