Happy Sunday!
I hope you are enjoying a lovely Easter break – I’m gutted as I have been isolating!! It is a little frustrating that we managed to avoid covid during the pandemic and then my husband tested positive a few weeks ago and he kindly shared it with me!! I was hoping that by now I would be in the clear, like hubby, but am still testing positive. Thankfully I am feeling much better so know I’ve come through the worst of it.
I’m coming on today to share a card that I created for a theme challenge “Spring is in the Air” #stampingcovechallenges. For me, daffodils are one of the first signs of Spring so it was a no brainer to use the fabulous Daffodil Daydream bundle for this challenge. (I’m so happy this bundle is carrying over into the next annual catalogue.) I may have mentioned once or twice before that I love making fun fold cards and 3D projects, so for this challenge opted to make a pop up box card so I could display a bunch of daffodils.
I used Bumblebee, Very Vanilla, Soft Sea Foam and Old Olive card plus the All Together designer series paper, which is only available while stocks last. I applied Bumblebee ink to the very vanilla die cuts with a blending brush, which makes each flower look slightly different. I used two of the Tasteful Label dies (sadly retiring soon) and one of the Penned Flower dies to create the edge on the dividers in the card. I embelished the front panel with a Bumblebee trinket and some Brushed Metallic Adhesive Backed Dots. I loved the card that much that I ended up giving it to my wonderful Mum on Mother’s Day last month.
When making the card for today’s blog, I changed it up a little – to save time the daffodils are all die cut from So Saffron and Bumblebee card. The flowers are a little less vibrant but still pretty imho. The inside back panel is stamped with the trio of hearts from the Always in my Heart stamp set and the sentiment is from a stamp set called Limited Edition that will be available from the beginning of May in the new annual catalogue. This was the stamp set that I was given free for attending our OnTour event the other week.
I used one of the stamps from the Daffodil Daydream set on the back panel but there’s plenty of space to write a message to the recipient.
Adding the butterflies to thin strips of window sheet make them look like they are flying through the daffodils.
There was a lot of die cutting but I think it was worth it. This sentiment is so cute and I know I’m going to be using it on a lot of cards.
