Today I’m playing along with this week’s Global Design Project – Color Challenge #GDP329. This weeks color combination is Misty Moonlight, Magenta Madness and Mango Melody. This is such a bright and fun combination and a little outside my comfort zone if I’m honest.
Here’s the badge for this weeks challenge and as usual there is lots of fabulous inspiration from the Global Design Project design team.
I dusted off the Plenty of Patterns decorative masks from the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue. Masks are a great way to create amazing backgrounds. There are four masks in the set and I’ve used a different one on each of my cards.
I applied the three colours of ink with blending brushes over the mask to a square piece of basic white card and trimmed it down to fit the card front. I cut an inch strip for the inside and stamped the sentiment in Misty Moonlight. As the colours are so bright I decided to add a layer of vellum to soften them. The butterflies from Beautiful Wings dies have gilded leafing to the tips of the wings before being added to the card front. The words from the Amazing You dies were layered before being added to the card.
I wanted to make another card and this time added less ink to make the background softer. Here you can see the inside of that card.
