Hello
Today’s card was inspired by the fun sketch challenge over at the Global Design Project #GDP310. There are so many great ways to interpret and make a sketch your own. I decided to keep the layout but as I’ve been making lots of Christmas cards recently swapped flowers for snowflakes using a favourite stamp set from last year Snowflake Wishes.
Here’s the sketch for this week’s challenge:
I opted to use my favourite in-color Fresh Freesia paired with Balmy Blue. The Fresh Freesia base is a standard side folding C5 card (10.5cm x 29.7cm scored in the middle). To get the two tone effect on the snowflakes, I tapped the stamps in Balmy Blue ink first and added Fresh Freesia with a sponge dauber. Although there are fabulous dies that co-ordinate with this stamp set, I fussy cut all the snowflakes (I know right!). A matt layer of Basic White (10.2cm x 14.5cm) is stamped with more snowflakes. The top layer (5.5cm x 14.5cm) is embossed with the snowflake folder from the Wintry 3D Embossing folders and is so beautiful and detailed. The piece of Fresh Freesia 2021-2023 Shimmer Velum (6cm x 14.5cm) is layered under the embossed piece of card and adds a lovely bit of sparkle.
The Snowflakes are layered with dimensionals and added to the card with glue. The middle of each snowflake has a Soft Succulent 2021-2023 Jewel and although they are the wrong colour they work! The sentiment was stamped in Fresh Freesia, trimmed and added with dimensionals. A White Glittery Organdy Ribbon bow is added with a mini glue dot.
In the video tutorial you can find later in this post, you can watch me make this second version. This time with a Balmy Blue base and for the sparkle under the embossed panel, I added some of the Pool Party Sheer Ribbon which imho looks lovely. The sentiment is a little pale but I stopped myself ffrom using a darker ink!
Here is the video – I would love to know what you think so please leave a comment either here or on YouTube as I love to get your feedback.
