The card I’m sharing with you today was inspired by and CASEd (copy and share everything) from one of the cards on page 23 in the Stampin’ Up! July – December Mini Catalogue. I changed a few elements to make it my own and am really pleased with the way it turned out. The sentiment on the front is from Encircled with Warmth stamp set and I used four of the co-ordinating dies from Encircled in Beauty to create the focal point. The background was created with one of the designs from Peaceful Place designer series paper.
Last month I took part in a July-Dec Mini Catalogue / Sale-a-bration card SWAP. If you don’t know what a SWAP is, you make a set number of the same card or card front and then swap them with the same number of people so you end up with a selection of different ideas and inspiration. We were to use current product (where possible) and from either the Mini Catalogue or Sale-a-bration items. Twelve of us took part so I had to make a dozen of these cards. My craft room looked like a bomb had gone off with tiny bits of card and foil all over my desk and floor. I’ll admit I almost changed my mind and designed something else for the swap because they were so pretty and I could of added them to my Christmas Card stash! Don’t they look lovely?
I almost forgot to share a photo of all the lovely swaps I received back from the team. Aren’t they all amazing?
For my card I cut strips from a piece of Peaceful Place 12″ x 12″ Specialty designer series paper measuring 10cm x 13.5cm (you could make these any size) and glued them to a layer of Basic White card measuring 10cm x 14.3cm leaving a gap between each strip. The bottom and top die cut pieces are Smokey Slate card and for the second die cut I used the brushed finish from the Silver Foil Specialty Pack, which has a purple tinge which is perfect. To add an extra layer behind the top die cut I added one of the gorgeous snowflakes from the Wonderful Snowflake pack on p24 of the Mini Catalogue. Here’s a close up so you can see all the glorious layers.
Some were glued on and some added with dimensionals. The white Glittery Organdy Ribbon is perfect for the bow and I used another small piece to make it look like a hanging bauble or wreath. This was also one of the cards my Wednesday and Thursday evening card classes made though they were not amused by all the tiny little bits they had to poke out of the die cuts!!
The sentiments are both from Encircled with Warmth stamp set; On the front I used Versamark and White Emboss Powder and inside is just stamped in Basic Gray ink.
