Today I’m sharing cards created for and inspired by this week’s Global Design Project color challenge using three of our new In Colors Pale Papaya, Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen. The Simply Succulents Stamp Set and Potted Succulents dies immediately sprang to mind with this colour combination. I’ve been wanting to use the biggest die from the Potted Succulent dies to create a stencil so that is what I did for my cards and I think they are really pretty.

To make my card, cut Pale Papaya @ 14.8cm x 21cm and scored @ 10.5cm for the base and stamp the two small flowers in Pale Papaya randomly round the edge to create a soft tone on tone background. Cut two pieces of Basic White @ 10.5cm x 14.8cm and use the large die create a stencil from one. Secure that over the second piece with low tack tape and gently add Pale Papaya and Soft Succulent ink with the blender brushes. Remove the stencil and voila you have a fabulous background and a beautiful stencil to use on another card. Trim background piece to 9cm x 13.3cm and glue to an Evening Evergreen layer cut @ 9.5cm x 13.8cm. Stamp one large succulent and two small succulents in Evening Evergreen on a piece of Basic White and use Wink of Stella to blend the colour, fussy cut and layer with glue and dimensionals. Stamp the sentiment on a piece of Soft Succulent and die cut. Add Evening Evergreen Open Weave ribbon to the panel. (I show you a trick for tying the bow using an acrylic block in the video below.) Add the sentiment and flower with dimensionals.
The Evening Evergreen base for the second card is cut @ 15cm x 23cm, scored @ 11.5cm. This is a little larger than usual but it will be easy to make a custom envelope for it. The stencil was trimmed to 10.4cm x 13.9cm and glued to a piece of Basic White the same size. Stamp the sentiment in Evening Evergreen on Pale Papaya and die cut. Stamp the pot in Pale Papaya on a scrap of Basic White, colour with Soft Suede Blends and fussy cut. Die cut several Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen leaves to create the plant in the pot. Add a piece of Soft Succulent open weave ribbon behind the sentiment before adding with dimensionals
You can watch me make the next card in the video below. I’ve stuck to the same colour combination for all the cards. The base for this one is Soft Succulent, the layer is Pale Papaya and I used all three colours of ink with blending brushes to create the background. The sentiment was heat embossed in White and the ribbon is Pale Papaya.
