Hello,
Today, I’m playing along with the Global Design Project – #GDP287 is a theme challenge “By the Sea”. This is the card I made using the fabulous Whale Done stamp set and Stitched Rectangles dies from Stampin’ Up! – I’m really happy with the way it turned out.
Here’s the badge for this week’s challenge:-
I cut an A4 sheet of Pretty Peacock to 20cm x 21cm and scored the shorter side at 10cm for the card base. On the left over piece I used one of the Stitched Rectangles dies to create a window or aperture. Can you see that the opening is bigger than any of the dies in the set. There’s a way to extend the size of window you want using dies, so if you would like to see how this is done leave a comment below and I’ll do a little video.
I was going to do a #simplestamping project but stepped it up in the end. At least the stamping was simple – to make the underwater scene I using Pretty Peacock, Bumblebee, Granny Apple Green, Balmy Blue and Calypso Coral inks on a piece of Basic White cut at 9.5cm x 20.5cm. I added shimmer with some of my homemade shimmer spray although it’s hard to see in the photo’s.

I love the Stitched dies as they leave stitching on both sides of the die cut piece. I cut a smaller rectangle in Pretty Peacock and a slightly larger one in Balmy Blue and layered after heat embossing the sentiment in white.
To make the turtles stand out I stamped them again on a scrap of Basic White, fussy cut them and added them with dimensionals – I think they’re turtley cute!! I did get a bit carried away with the sequins.
I made another A6 shaker card. The base for this one was cut to 10.5cm x 29.7cm and scored at 14.8cm. The only additional item used for this card is a piece of window sheet glued to the back of the frame before adding the foam strips.
