Did you have a lovely Easter? Some of the restrictions in England lifted on Monday so I visited my parents (complying with social distancing rules of course) for the first time since Christmas and it was truly wonderful to spend some time in each others company. On Thursday evening, I attended a virtual event with 182 other Stampin’ Up! demonstrators looking at new products from the upcoming catalogue – I love being part of our crafting community.
This week the Global Design Project has a sketch challenge for us.
I really enjoyed using this simple sketch to spark my creativity – once I started making cards I almost couldn’t stop! As always there’s lots of inspiration to see from the Design Team and so many brilliant entries this week. I decided to make three square cards using Dragonfly Garden and Peaceful Moments stamp sets, the Layering Circles and the Butterfly Beauty dies.
To create this first card the base is Daffodil Delight cut at 5″ x 10″ and scored at 5″. I stamped the floral image using the Stamparatus in Versamark on a piece of Basic White measuring 4¾” x 4¾” and heat embossed with Black Emboss Powder. (This colour embossing powder is retired at the moment but watch this space!) Next I cut a circle using the largest Layering Circles die and applied So Saffron and Calypso Coral ink with a Blending Brush to the circle. The panel was glued to the front of the base and the circle added with Stampin Dimensionals, making sure to line up the stamped image. The sentiment was stamped in Versamark on another piece of Basic White and heat emboss in Black, trimmed into two pieces and added to the front panel with glue and dimensionals. The five tiny butterflies are from the sadly retiring Butterfly Beauty dies, which retire soon.
The sentiment and floral image were stamped in Memento on another piece of Basic White and glued to the inside.
The base for my next card is Pear Pizzazz. This time I created a mask by cutting a circle on a large post it note (or you could us thin paper) using the largest Layering Circles die. Apply Pear Pizzazz and Balmy Blue ink with Blending Brushes to tmcreate the circle. After removing the mask I stamped the floral image in Memento and glued the panel to the base. I stamped the sentiment in Versamark twice on a piece of Basic Black and heat embossed in White, then fussy cut the three pieces I wanted and added with Stampin Dimensionals. This time the butterflies are Pear Pizzazz.
Again the sentiment was glued on another piece of Basic White and glued to the inside.
The base for my final version is Thick Basic White and the layer Misty Moonlight. As before I create a mask to apply White Craft ink with a Blending Brush. After removing the mask allow the ink to dry completely before stamping the floral image in Misty Moonlight ink and glue the panel to the front of the base. Stamp the sentiment in Misty Moonlight on a piece of Basic White, fussy cut into three pieces and add with Stampin Dimensionals. This time the butterflies were Night of Navy.
I stamped the sentiment in Misty Moonlight on the inside.
