I love making 3D Book box cards

Hello and welcome to my blog

Today, I wanted to share a few photo’s of the first 3D book box card I made. My lovely friend Saffron taught me how to make this type of card a few months ago and I’m hooked. I do love a fancy fold and have made quite a few now.  Although, they’re a bit fiddly, they are easier to make than they look. So worth the effort.

It’s the perfect project to use up some of the gorgeous retired designer series paper and ribbon I have in my “collection”.  Stampin’ Up! DSP is double sided and co-ordinates so it was easy to chose different patterns for each element of the card.

The three outside panels are covered with more of the gorgeous designer series paper from the same pack and the card opens like a book!

The box frame is made from 4 pieces of cardstock folded and glued in a concertina – it that makes sense?

There’s a pocket on the inside left that holds an insert where you can write a message for the recipient.

For the box background I used a cloud template and balmy blue ink. The birds, branches and flowers were all fussy cut from another piece of the pretty designer series paper and popped up with dimensionals. As I said fiddly but worth it don’t you think.

I’ve made quite a few of this type of cards now and I will share them over the coming weeks.

We are still living through strange times, thank you to anyone who has taken the time to read my blog.  Stay safe and remember keep it crafty.
