Hello my crafty friends
I’m back today to share with you a super easy tri-fold angle card – at least that’s what I’m calling them. I made a larger version earlier this month for my Dad’s birthday here and Tina, my lovely sister-in-law, wanted to know how it was made.
For the versions below, I decided to make two bases from one piece of A4 card; on the long side score @ 9.9cm and 19.8cm; and on the short sides, make a mark @ 7cm from the top on one side and @ 7cm from the bottom on the other side, then using a trimmer cut between the marks in a diagonal – the bases fit a standard C5 envelope. (For a larger card that fits a DL envelope – cut the diagonal line from 21cm (i.e. top right corner) to about 8.5cm on the other side – when I made the card for my Dad I didn’t actually measure it!!
These are the two cards I made from the smaller bases.
I filmed a quick tutorial, so you can watch here how I made the card bases, and how I cut and added designer series paper and the die cut “Happy” and Birthday to the card below.
Using my trimmer I cut three piece of designer series paper (DSP) 9.4cm wide and marked the angle I needed with a pencil (easier to watch the video than for me to describe it) – so much quicker than measuring. Sadly the DSP I used is no longer available but you can use whatever you have in your stash / collection!! I cut the die cut word twice from thick whisper white card and once from rich razzleberry card. Gluing the two WW pieces together and adhering to the back of the front panel just at the very bottom of the die cut and adding the RR piece to the front so the bottom of the word is sandwiched between the card base. I heat embossed Birthday from the Well Said stamps set on a scrap of RR and added with dimensionals. I embellished with the butterflies (stamped with memento and coloured with blends using the Butterfly Gala stamp set and butterfly duet punch) and the sentiment on the inside after I finished filming.
Here’s the video tutorial – the video is slightly speeded up and has a voiceover and I’m still not entirely happy with it. I guess practice makes perfect and I haven’t practiced enough!! Please leave a comment if you’ve watched it and let me know what you think.
Below is the second card I made.
Using balmy blue, highland heather and pear pizzazz ink I stamped my own DSP using the Beautiful Friendship stamp set on whisper white card. I used the same colour Stampin’ Write markers (from the Subtles set) to stamp the sentiment on white card and die cut using the second largest oval from the Stitched Shaped dies. I layered that onto a scalloped oval die cut in Highland Heather card and used one of the dies from the Budding Blooms set to create a matching scalloped edge along the diagonal. The sentiment on the inside is from the Itty Bitty Birthday set. Some basic rhinestones finish off the front.
I’m so happy with the way these cards turned out and love an easy fancy fold that’s a little different from the cards you can buy in the shops.
