Hello my friends,
I hope your week has been a fun and crafty one! I’ve been finishing my swaps for #OnStage2018 in Birmingham. It is so exciting that it’s only two weeks away! I will share my swaps with you after the event and hopefully show you what I get from other demonstrators.
Today I’m sharing a simple Christmas card made with an old favourite (yes I know I have a few) Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set, Cookie Cutter Builder punch and the snowflake stamps from the Colorful Seasons set. You can watch a video on my YouTube channel later in this post.
The base is a standard A6 (10.5cm x 29.7cm scored @14.8cm) side folding card in Balmy Blue with two pieces of Whisper White cut @ 13.8cm x 9.5cm. (I got the measurement wrong in the video – oops!) I used a scrap of white to stamp the eskimos (how cute are they!) with Memento Black ink, then punched out with the Cookie Cutter Builder punch. The snowflakes are stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with White emboss powder. Balmy Blue ink twas applied with a piece of stamping sponge to highlight the snowflakes and edge of the white layer.
Dark Crumb Cake and Light Smoky Slate Blends were used to color the Eskimos and on their little faces I used Ivory and Light Calypso Coral. Clear Wink of Stella on the white areas give them a little sparkle!
I had to make one with my favour color – Highland Heather. I’m really chuffed with the way these cards turned out and because they are only two layers they are quick and easy to make and will be cheap as chips to send in the post to family and friends this Christmas.
I still love the magic of heat embossing and this emboss resist technique is an easy way to create a wow effect on a card. I use the lid of a shoe box is lined with tin foil when I do any heat embossing now and I find this helps the cardstock from curling and protects my work surface – win win!.
It’s so easy to forget about some of the older sets we have with all the new sets that come out but I’m trying to make sure to use them from time to time.
You can click below to watch the video. I’m blessed to have so many subscribers to my little channel. I know my video’s aren’t very professional but I enjoy making them and hope they inspire someone to get creative. YouTube have changed their settings so if you subscribe make sure you also click the notification bell so you get an email when I post a new video. I’d love to know what you think so please leave me a message if you have time.
