We have been away on an amazing canal boat holiday with my parents and father-in-law. My hubby said it would be a relaxing holiday but we ended up doing much more than planned – over 7 days, we did 47 miles, went through 82 locks and 12 swing bridges with a crew of 5 (average age of 64) – a good effort even if I say so myself!!!
We were on the Kennet & Avon canal and rented a boat from a company called Foxhangers,based near Devizes. It was my first trip on a narrowboat but hopefully not my last. The boat was comfortable, although I have to admit it was a little challenging working out how to co-exist in what is basically a small corridor! The canal was lovely with wonderful scenery, lots of wildlife, friendly people and is incredibly peaceful. Our dog had a wonderful time running along the tow path and we certainly got plenty of exercise. I can highly recommend it if you like having an active holiday.
One of our lovely neighbours comes in twice a day while we’re away to feed and fuss our two cats; the boy was delighted to see us but the girl sulked for a few hours!!
Today, I’m sharing the fourth and final card from my April card class, along with two other examples. It is so simple and quick to create a pretty backgrounds with sponging and masking technique. On all the examples, an aperture was cut from a panel of cardstock; first an oval, then a circle and finally a square.
The above card is made with the Butterfly Basics stamp set and the Butterflies Thinlits, which are both retiring at the end of this month so don’t miss out if you want to buy it. Tempting turquoise and lemon lime twist are used to create the background, black memento ink for the fern fronds & sentiment and calypso coral for the butterfly.
The above card was created with the Fabulous Flamingo stamp set, Crushed curry, tangerine tango, sweet sugarplum and night of navy were used to create the background, black memento ink for the flamingo and flora and Iridescent Sequin Assortment add the finishing touch.

As usual, I have made a quick video t show you how I made the final example which you can watch below. For this one I used crushed curry, calypso coral, rich razzleberry, dapper denim and tranquil tide classic inks to create the background. I used the lovely Colorful Seasons stamp set for the deckchair and sentiment.
