Butterflies and flowers with Beautiful Day

Hello again!

I hope you’ve had as good a week and weekend. As well as working and doing chores, I’ve spent a bit of time with family, catching up with friends and generally enjoying life – is that cheesy?

My monthly card classes took place on Thursday night and Saturday morning. I’m so blessed to be supported by some of my lovely friends. Four people came on Thursday and six on Saturday. Six is the maximum I can squeeze round my dining table!

Although I designed the projects last weekend, I ended up changing a couple during the week – I often doubt myself and am my harshest critic. Despite my worries everyone loved the cards and did an amazing job. I love sharing what I do and inspiring others – it is so rewarding.

Today I’m sharing the cards we made with the Beautiful Day stamp set from Stampin’ Up! I’m so pleased this set is carrying over from the Spring / Summer Occasions catalogue into the new annual catalogue which will be available on 1 June 2018.

I made the flower card below for Thursday and on Friday made the butterfly card so my Saturday ladies had a choice. I used Shimmery White cardstock for the flower and butterfly because I wanted to use an aqua painter to colour them in.

I made various versions to show how easy it is to step up projects by changing the background with a mask, ink and sponge brayers or embossing paste and dazzling diamonds. You can also add texture with an embossing folder on its own or with ink or heat embossing with embossing powder. Using a bit of vellumribbon, glitter & clear enamel shapes or sequins add a lovely finishing touch.

I often struggle making exactly the same card over and over so for the video I made the card below which uses stamps from the gorgeous Butterfly Basics stamp set for the sentiment and background.

Recipe:-

Beautiful Day and Butterfly Basics stamp sets

Wisteria Wonder card base cut @ 10.5cm x 29.7cm scored at 14.8cm (one of the retiring colours 😭)

Basic Black cardstock cut @ 10cm x 14.3cm

Very Vanilla cardstock cut @ 10cm x 14.3cm (inside) & 9.5cm x 13.8cm (outside) + scrap for  sentiment

Shimmery White cardstock cut @ 7.5cm x 9cm

Tuxedo Black Memento, Elegant Eggplant, Wisteria Wonder and Old Olive inks

Pretty Label and Everyday Label punches

Glitter & Clear Enamel Shapes

Aqua painter

Clear Wink of Stella glitter brush

You can take a look at how I made the card by clicking on the video below. I confess I stamped, coloured and fussy cut the butterfly ahead of time as I didn’t think anyone would be interested in watching me do that! I feel blessed and amazed that I have so many subscribers on my YouTube channel. I plan on organising a giveaway when I get to the 500 milestone!

Here’s a quick photo of all of the cards together. – I’m pleased with them. Do you have a favourite?
