Thursday already! Blimey, this week is flying by! I’m a little late with my latest video – #2 in the Lynn’s Lessons series. This is inspired by my friends comments at my class last week so I’ve decided to go back to basics as there are probably a lot of newbies out there who want to start papercrafting but don’t know where to start.
I’ve been crafting for many years and have accumulated a lot of supplies – I like to think of myself as a collector rather than a hoarder!! I bought most of it either from local craft shops or on-line but was frustrated that it was almost impossible to find papers, card and embellishments that matched. That’s one of the things I love about Stampin’ Up! everything co-ordinates so beautifully.
My sister-in-law got me into stamping many years ago but I found wooden stamps expensive and the quality of photopolymer sets a bit hit and miss and I almost gave up because I couldn’t always get a proper image – I’m a bit of a perfectionist you see. I also found ink pads dried out quickly.
I tried lots of different techniques dry-embossing, quilling, punch art, distress ink, perfect pearls, flower soft, die cutting, embossing folders….. the list goes on. Then I discovered Stampin’ Up. I ordered a punch from a local demo, booked onto a class and within a very short time had signed up as a demo and my love affairs with SU began. (TBH I find it hard to use my old supplies because the quality is so poor compared to what I use now!)
So what do you really need to get started – some pretty paper, card stock, ink and a few stamp sets. Essential tools are a good trimmer, glue, scissors, a cutting mat to protect your work surface and you’re ready to start creating and having fun.
